Annual School Carnivals

Hills Adventist College runs three school carnivals each year – Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics:

Students who are playing in teams representing our College require a commitment for the whole term as Hills Adventist College competes in the Met West competition with other schools. These students will practice during sport time when there is no game scheduled.  Training may also occur during lunchtime or before school.

Representative Sport

Our College is part of the Hills Zone Sporting Association (HZSA). Each year we send individuals to the Hills Zone swimming carnival, athletics carnival, cross country, triathlon and team sports such as AFL, Football, Basketball, Futsal, etc. For Years 7 – 12 HZSA is our school’s pathway through to participating in higher levels of representative sport: Association of Independent Co-Educational Schools (AICES), Combined Independent Schools (CIS), NSW All Schools and Nationals.

Years 5 and 6 students participate in ASISSA and Adventist School competitions. Please see Mrs Fraser, the Stage 3 Representative Sport Coordinator, for more details

Years 7 – 12 have the opportunity to participate in after school competitions.  There are two sporting seasons; winter (Terms 2 and 3), summer (Terms 4 and 1). We select winter teams during 1st term and summer teams during 3rd team. If your child is interested in playing in a team, please see Mrs Reid, the  7 – 12 Representative Sport Coordinator, for more details.

When representing the school, uniforms are provided and used throughout the season. These must be returned washed and in good condition at the end of the season.

House System and House Shield

The House Shield is keenly contested each year and the House system aims to foster a sense of pride and identity in a supportive environment.  It provides a framework for the pastoral care of students, while encouraging participation and excellence in a wide range of school activities. It also offers opportunities for leadership development.

All students and staff are members of one of four Houses:  Philip (Blue Gum) – Blue, Hunter (Eucalypt) – Green, Dennison (Waratah) - Red and Fitzroy (Wattle) – Yellow.

Hills Adventist College recognises that the House Shield should be inclusive of student endeavour across a broad range of activities.  Therefore, the criteria for winning the House Shield offers opportunities for Houses to participate in a sporting, academic and community service activities throughout the school year. The criteria for winning the House Shield are:
